Very insightful. Although cultural programming affects everyone, experience tells me that women are indeed more prone to being programmed.

I can recall instances where I was "falling under the spell" so to speak particularly when I was an adolescent.

Like most teenage girls in the 80s, I frequently perused fashion magazines. I noticed that every time I flipped through one of those glossy glam rags, I started thinking about dieting - even though I had always been a healthy weight for my build.

Thankfully, I recognized the pattern, i.e. the programming. I gave up looking at the magazines, and eventually gave up dieting - and focused more on just getting a life. In my case, it all worked out - my body calibrated back down to my normal weight (dieting always makes you fat) and I have remained there since.

What I'd like to be able to figure out is what it was that helped me realize I was being programmed, and to take steps to reverse it. I'm sure there are others who have reversed similar damaging trends, but obviously not enough of us.
